NBA Calls For The Head of His President, Paul Usoro Gives 14days to Resign and Tender Public Apology To the Bar.

By a letter dated 11th October 2018, a group of Concerned Lawyers as seen in their letterhead signed by its conveners Mr. Obioma Ezenwobodo, Esq. and Mr. Ahmed Abubakar, Esq., has given  the president of the Nigerian Bar Association, Paul Usoro SAN 14 days to resign his position and tender a public apology to the NBA over his involvement in the incident that led to the suspension of Justice James Agbadu-Fishim of the National Industrial Court of Nigeria. Failure of which they would petition the LPDC and institute a legal action against him.

Dear Mr President

WORRYING STATE OF THE BAR AND DEMAND FOR YOUR KIND RESIGNATION AS THE PRESIDENT OF THE NIGERIAN BAR ASSOCIATION

We are active, passionate,  and very concerned members of the bar and on that capacity we write you this letter....

Recall that during your campaign to lead our great association a lot of stakeholders  raised concerns on your purported involvement in the financial inducement  of Hon. Justice James AgbaduFishim of the National industrial court. You would also recall that your act of giving N550,000 to the said Hon. Justice James Agbadu Fishim was challenged on ethical ground as being offensive to Rule 34 of the Rules of Professional Conduct for Legal Practitioners 2007.

It is also on record that you admitted giving the said monetary 'gifts' (contribution or donation) in three trenches for the burial of Hon. Justice James Agbadu Fishim's relative and for his personal vacations...

Mr president the event of 5th October 2018 where the National judicial Council (NJC) in exercise of its disciplinary  powers under paragraphs 21 (d) of the third schedule of the Constitution of the Federal Republic Nigeria, 1999 as amended  suspended Hon. Justice James Agbadu Fishim with immediate effect pending his removal from office by the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria  on the ground of receiving monetary 'gifts' for which you are one of  the givers... .

Against all backdrops, we humbly demand the following from you sir.

To immediately tender your resignation letter as the NBA President on the grounds of breach of 
Rule 34 of the Rules of Professional Conduct for Legal Practitioners 2007 and procuring breach of Rule 3(f)(2)(i) of the code of Conduct for Judicial Officers of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and inability to discharge your functions in the light of the decision of the National Judicial Council (NJC) as regards the monetary 'gifts' you gave to Hon. Justice  Justice James Agbadu Fishim.

2. Tender a public apology to all members of the Nigeria Bar Association over the role you played above.

Out of honour, impartiality and ensuring the sanctity of our noble profession immediately step aside as the NBA President temporarily, in order to allow for urgent thorough investigation by an Ad-Hoc Committee comprising of independent members drawn from the Bar, Bench, Body of Benchers, EFCC, ICPC with a mandate to conduct the investigation on the suspended Hon. and for them to determine if you can still maintain your position as the NBA President.
