#PDPconvention: Atiku Abubakar Wins PDP Presidential Primary Ticket

With all presidential primaries votes counted and President Buhari emerging as the flagbearer of the All Progressives Congress,  Former vice-President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has defeated 12 other aspirants to win the Peoples Democratic party's (PDP) Presidential ticket for the 2019 Presidential election.





He defeated the 12 other aspirants with a large margin by polling over 1,532 votes at the party’s national convention held in Port Harcourt Rivers state on 6th October.





A total of 3,274 delegates were accredited to vote at the convention attended by the leaders of the opposition party.  Sixty-eight votes were considered invalid and were therefore voided.





Unlike other party's presidential primaries, disabled men  and women from Delta state were not disenfranchised in the exercise which made the exercise a unique one. All thanks to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa for regarding them as citizens of Nigeria and most especially important delegates of his state.

The presidential aspirants are their Excellencies;





Jonah Jang - 19 votes, Datta Baba-Ahmed - 5 votes, David Mark - 35, Kabiru Turaki - 65 votes, Sule Lamido - 96 votes, Bafarawa - 48 votes, Dankwambo - 111 votes, Ahmed Makarfi - 74, Alh. Kwankwanso - 158, Sen. Dr. Bukola Saraki - 317, Rt. Hon. Aminu Tambuwal - 693, Alh. Atiku Abubakar - 1,532 votes.





The February 16 presidential election will therefore be a replay of electoral battle as both Messrs Buhari who won the APC presidential primary election and former vice-president Alhaji Atiku abubakar will fiercely battle each other in the contest.
