Court of Appeal Reverses Tambuwal's Selective Pardon Orders Trial of Sokoto Officials

The EFCC had condemned the pardon initiated by the Sokoto State Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal to a group of former state officials under trial for corruption.  This development drew the anger of the state government.





Following the pattern of the house purchase, the state government did not inform the state citizens that a group of people that were supposed to be working for the citizens’ interest but dipped their hands into their commonwealth have been set free. The Economic and  Financial Crime Commission EFCC had filed an appeal against the decision of the Sokoto State high court judge, Bello Abass, whi had discharged the five persons because the state government had pardoned them. 





Delivering lead judgements in the two appeals filed by the EFCC against Alhaji Muhammad Maigari Dingyadi (former SSG) and Isa Sadiq Achida, Justice Sankey and Justice Ndukwe-Anyawu both held that the Governor’s pardon was invalid since the accused persons were still undergoing trial.
