The Use of the Placenta For Ritual Purposes, How True? Cleric Confesses.

This was an incident that occurred 3 days ago but we chose to write something about it today because of the salient point of the importance of the Placenta of the newborn. It is said that the placenta is the life-line that attaches the placenta to the child. Birth is when the placenta dies and the baby’s life begins. With the baby’s first independent breath, the placenta is no longer needed. It has nursed the baby through a potentially perilous intrauterine odyssey. Now the job is done.

In the news somewhere in nigeria, a mother gave birth at a private hospital for Caesarean operation following unsuccessful efforts at having normal delivery at both the Civil Service clinic and the General Hospital, Ilorin.

Luck ran out of one of the nurse attendant when the husband of the woman came back to request for the placenta of his newborn only to be told it was no where to be found.

Upon investigation by the Kwara state Police Command, the placenta of the newborn baby was allegedly sold to a cleric in Ilorin for ritual purposes by one of the  nurses.

On further interrogation of the cleric at the police headquarters, he confirmed receiving the placenta but that he threw the placenta away as it was useless since the baby was born through caesarean operation and not normal delivery.
