N27,000 Minimum Wage Passes 2nd Reading.

On Wednesday, the Senate passed the N27,000 National Minimum Wage Amendment Bill through the crucial second readin.





The lawmakers passed the bill on Thursday during plenary following the suspension of the Senate rules.





The bill was put through first and second reading simultaneously.





During the debate, the lawmakers supported the bill and were confident that it would improve the standard of living for workers in the country.





The letter was read by deputy Senate president Ike Ekweremadu, on the floor of the Senate,









“The purpose of the letter is to forward to the lawmakers, for legislative action, a new minimum wage bill to further amend the national minimum wage amendment act 2011 in order to give a new national minimum wage of N27,000 per month to the lowest paid Nigerian worker from the current N18,000 per month,”
