'Only 2 Hospitals In Nigeria Do Bone Scan' - Cancer Survivor Cries Out.

A lady who is a cancer survivor has used the Cancer World Day to express her disatisfaction with the health sector of her country Nigeria. She said;





we have only 2 hospitals in the whole of naija that do bone scan for cancer patients, UCH and Abuja. And till now no reagent has been gotten since my appointment of July last year till now. Imagine if I had any issues after my surgery! Before i got to this point, it was bills upon bills, with nurses being rude to patients. No functional rariotherapy machines, all broken down. The only ones functional are in Ibadan, Enugu, Abuja working on a mammoth crowd of patients. How can the the doctors over worked because they recruit very few of them.





As for the govt. It Should subsidize the cost of cancer medications and make it totally free as a lot of persons die untreated or get half baked treatment.





It is sad to note, that Nigeria has not done enough to fight cancer as evident by lack of adoption of a national strategy that focuses on research, improved awareness and provision of treatment centres. This certainly must be the reason the spread of the ailment is not abating in Nigeria.
