The funeral service of 19 Year-old Uyinene Mrwetyana from S.A is currently underway at the Abbotsford Christian Centre in East London.

University of Cape Town (UCT) VC Professor Mamokgethi Phakeng took the podium and spoke of the 19-year-old's tragic murder, saying, "It has been hard, Nene has been robbed".





Phakeng also announced the UyineneMrwetyana Scholarship for Women in her memory, to keep her legacy burning brightly "we do not want to forget who she was.





The death of Mrwetyana shocked the nation after the, then missing student search came to an end when a 42-year-old man confessed to raping and murdering her.





The 42-year-old man was an employee at the Clareinch Post Office where Mrwetyana was last seen.





May her gentle soul rest in perfect peace.
