Lagos State Government Now Set to try Police Officers Caught on Camera Shooting two Suspects Dead

Some police officers identified as  Inspector Fabiyi Omomayara, Sergent Olaniyi Solomon, Sargent Solomon Sunday and Constable Aliyu Mukaila, who were initially dismissed from the state police command for going against the ethics of the profession are now to be brought to justice following a petition by the families of the suspects, Sgun Sholaja and Ogheneove Ebobo, petitioned the state government over the no case submission by the Director of Public Prosecution.





Divaviva learnt that the officers were released from prison after the state Directorate of Public Prosecution ordered their release. DPP says the officers have no case to answer as there is no sufficient facts to pursue a case of murder or involuntary manslaughter against the officers.





Based on the petition, the State Government issued a statement today the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Moyosore Onigbanjo SAN has now been directed to immediately investigate and review the case.





“In the course of investigation initiated by the Office of the Attorney General/ Commissioner for Justice, fresh evidence came to light indicting the concerned police officers.

“This has necessitated a review of the earlier legal opinion issued, and the Attorney General/ Commissioner for Justice has directed that the suspects be charged for the killing of the deceased persons.

“The Attorney General/ Commissioner for Justice assures the general public of the resolve of his office to uphold the Rule of Law in the State,” the statement said.

EFCC Officials Forcefully Break Into An Expectant Woman's House at 3am

An expectant father has accused EFCC officials of breaking into his home in the middle of the night to conduct a search without a warrant. The man said he was at his home in Olokuta, Kemta, in Idi-Aba, Abeokuta between 3 am to 5 am, when some men forcefully broke into his house using a hammer.  He added that he was afraid they were armed robbers, so he hid in the guest bedroom with his pregnant wife as the men broke in through the sitting room window. According to him, the intruders claimed to be EFCC officials looking for "Yahoo boys", but they had no form of identification, neither did they have a search warrant.  Even without a search warrant, the victim alleged that they searched his house, damaged things, then left without as much as an apology.
